Is This 5 Days Tour from Casablanca Right for You?

This itinerary works well when you arrive in Casablanca but want the Sahara to be the central experience of your trip. It is designed for travelers who value a private vehicle, flexible stops and a clear point-to-point route.

It is not a slow holiday. Morocco is larger than many first-time visitors expect, and Merzouga is far from Casablanca and Marrakech. We keep the plan honest: some days include five to seven hours of driving, and returning to Casablanca on Day 5 creates another long travel day. We stop for viewpoints, meals and short walks, but you should be comfortable spending time on the road.

If you want to change the finishing city, hotel level, desert camp category or daily pace, see our custom Morocco tours. We can shape the journey around your arrival city, departure city and flight times.

5 Days Tour from Casablanca Itinerary

Day 1: Casablanca to Marrakech

We collect you from your accommodation, Mohammed V International Airport or Casablanca cruise port. If your schedule allows, you can stop outside the Hassan II Mosque before leaving the city. The drive to Marrakech normally takes about three hours, depending on traffic and pickup location.

After checking into your riad, use the remaining time to discover the medina at your own pace. Jemaa el-Fnaa becomes especially lively toward sunset, while the surrounding souks introduce you to Moroccan crafts, spices and street life. A licensed Marrakech guide can be added when you want a structured historical visit rather than independent sightseeing.

Day 2: Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley

Leave Marrakech after breakfast and climb through the High Atlas Mountains. The Tizi n’Tichka road offers changing views of mountain villages, valleys and high passes. Your driver will choose safe stops according to traffic and weather.

Continue to the UNESCO-listed Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou. You can cross the riverbed and walk through the earthen village with a local guide. After lunch, travel through Ouarzazate, Skoura and the Valley of Roses before reaching Dades Valley.

Day 3: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga Desert

After breakfast, follow the valley through distinctive rock formations and traditional villages. Continue to Todra Gorge, where high limestone walls narrow around the river. When conditions allow, take a short walk through the gorge before lunch.

In the afternoon, travel through Tinghir, Tinjdad and Erfoud toward Merzouga. At the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, prepare for a camel ride or choose a 4×4 transfer if riding is uncomfortable. Reach your camp before dinner and enjoy the desert evening away from city lights.

Day 4: Merzouga – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate

Wake early if you would like to watch sunrise over Erg Chebbi. After breakfast, leave Merzouga and travel west through a quieter part of southern Morocco. The route passes desert towns, rocky plateaus and palm-filled valleys before joining the Draa Valley.

Pause for lunch and viewpoints according to the season and your pace. Continue to Ouarzazate, where you can rest after the drive. This overnight breaks up the return journey and avoids forcing Merzouga to Marrakech into one exhausting day.

Day 5: Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech or Casablanca

Leave Ouarzazate and cross the High Atlas Mountains toward Marrakech. If your tour ends in Marrakech, arrival is normally around early afternoon, depending on road conditions and stops. We can drop you at your riad, hotel or Marrakech Airport.

A Casablanca finish is possible, but it requires an early departure and approximately six to seven total driving hours. We recommend scheduling a Casablanca flight for the following day rather than relying on a tight same-day airport connection. Share your flight details before booking so we can advise you honestly.

Choose comfortable, superior or premium accommodation according to your budget. In Merzouga, camp standards vary significantly. Private bathrooms, heating, air conditioning and dune location should be confirmed rather than assumed. We will explain the available options before you pay a deposit.

Families can request family rooms, child seats and a 4×4 transfer instead of camels. Couples can prioritize smaller riads and a quieter camp. For more Sahara-focused options, visit our private Morocco desert tours.

Why Travel Privately with Morkosh Tours?

Morkosh Tours is owned by Youness, a licensed Moroccan guide who has organized private journeys since 2004. We plan routes around real road conditions, not only distances shown on a map. Your driver can adjust comfort stops and departure times while keeping the agreed itinerary practical.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can five days include Casablanca, Marrakech and the Sahara?

Yes, but the schedule is active. The route works best when you start in Casablanca and finish in Marrakech. Returning to Casablanca is possible with a longer final day.

Does the tour return to Casablanca Airport?

It can. Send your flight date and departure time before booking. We may recommend an extra night when a same-day transfer would create a risky connection.

Can we skip the camel ride?

Yes. A 4×4 can transfer you between Merzouga and the camp. Tell us about mobility concerns so we can choose suitable accommodation and activities.

Is this tour suitable for children?

It can suit families whose children are comfortable with road travel. We can provide child seats on request, schedule extra breaks and recommend family-friendly rooms.

What should we pack for the desert?

Bring comfortable closed shoes, sun protection, a small overnight bag and layers. Desert nights can be cold outside summer, while daytime temperatures may be high.

Can the itinerary be reversed?

Yes. We can adapt the route for Marrakech pickup, Casablanca drop-off or another onward journey when the number of days and road times remain realistic.
