Itinerary

Day 1Commencing from Marrakech or Casablanca

On the first day of your journey, we will arrange for your pickup from your accommodation or the airport in either Marrakech or Casablanca. We’ll then take you to your riad, a delightful hotel located in the historical center. After settling in, you’ll have the entire day to relax and rejuvenate. A fantastic starting point for your exploration is Jemaa el-Fnaa, the vibrant heart of Marrakech. Accompanied by your guide, you’ll be led to the main square. If you happen to arrive at Casablanca airport, there is also the option to visit the remarkable Hassan II Mosque before continuing on to Marrakech.

Day 2Guided Tour of Marrakech Medina & New Town

On the second day of your trip, we have an exciting full-day sightseeing tour planned in Marrakech, allowing you to explore the Medina, souks, monuments, and gardens. You’ll be accompanied by your driver and our knowledgeable local guide, who will showcase the highlights of this captivating city known as the “Pearl of the South.”

Marrakech holds a special allure with its main square, Djemaa El Fna, where you’ll witness a constant flow of showbiz celebrities who own properties here. It’s intriguing to learn about the city’s massive foreign residents’ community and its geographical significance. Despite its smaller size compared to Fes, Marrakech enjoys greater fame.

One of the remarkable aspects of Marrakech is its diverse population. Arabs, Europeans, Berbers, and the Touareg people from north of the Sahara have long blended together. Additionally, the city has historical ties with black Africans whose ancestors served at the Sultan’s court. Marrakech has always been a vital gateway for caravans arriving from all corners of Africa.

During the tour, you’ll have the opportunity to visit various highlights, such as the Bahia Palace, the Ben Yussef Koranic School, the vibrant Souks (markets), the Saadian Tombs, the legendary Hotel Mamounia, and the Majorelle Gardens, which were once owned by the renowned fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent.

Prepare to immerse yourself in the rich history, cultural diversity, and stunning attractions that Marrakech has to offer.

Day 3Atlas Mountains Exploration

On the third day of your itinerary, we will shift gears and embark on a guided hike in the majestic High Atlas Mountains. Prepare for a refreshing change of scenery as we immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of this mountainous region. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to enjoy a delightful lunch with a welcoming local family, providing a glimpse into their daily lives and traditions.

After the invigorating hike, we will check into a picturesque mountain lodge, where you can unwind and bask in the breathtaking views that surround you. The lodge offers a comfortable and serene atmosphere, allowing you to fully embrace the tranquility of the mountains. As night falls, a delicious dinner will be served at the lodge, providing a perfect end to an adventurous day.

Day 4Atlas Mountains Exploration

Today, you have the freedom to choose your own adventure. You can opt for an extended guided hike that lasts between two to five hours, including a delightful picnic lunch along the way. This option allows you to immerse yourself even deeper in the natural splendor of the Atlas Mountains, experiencing the awe-inspiring landscapes and embracing the serenity of the surroundings.

Alternatively, you can embark on a scenic drive around the Nfiss Valley, with a special visit to the Tinmel Mosque. This architectural gem was constructed in the 12th century to commemorate the establishment of the Almohad dynasty, which ruled Morocco for almost a century and a half. Unfortunately, the dynasty’s last representative, Idris al-Wathiq, met his tragic fate through assassination in 1269. The Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech draws inspiration from Tinmel’s design, and it has become one of Morocco’s most renowned mosques. Over the centuries, Tinmel fell into disrepair, teetering on the brink of collapse until a recent restoration effort saved it from oblivion. While much of its former grandeur has faded, one can still imagine the greatness it once possessed.

During your chosen activity, a satisfying lunch will be provided along the way. As the day comes to a close, we will return to the mountain lodge, where you can savor another delightful dinner amidst the tranquil ambiance of the Atlas Mountains.

Day 5Journey to Essaouira

Today, as we make our way to Essaouira, you have the option to make a slight detour and visit a local women’s association that specializes in producing argan oil. Often referred to as “liquid gold,” argan oil is renowned for its beauty-enhancing properties and numerous health benefits. Along the way, you might come across a fascinating legend or two. It’s true that goats are known to climb argan trees to eat their fruit, although it’s worth noting that some individuals have trained their animals to perch in the trees for photo opportunities and may charge you for the experience. Another common misconception is that the argan fruit needs to pass through the goats’ intestines for the nuts to be usable. In reality, the nuts growing opposite the fruit yield very low-quality oil and are never used in production.

Once in Essaouira, you can refer to our Essaouira travel guide to assist you in planning your visit to this unique coastal gem. Essaouira offers a distinct charm with its beautiful seaside setting, historical architecture, vibrant markets, and a lively atmosphere that combines both Moroccan and European influences. Take your time to explore the narrow streets, stroll along the picturesque harbor, and immerse yourself in the relaxed ambiance of this enchanting coastal town.

Day 6Exploring Essaouira Mogador

Today is a leisurely day, allowing you ample time to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Essaouira Mogador. There’s no need to rush, so take your time and embrace the relaxed atmosphere of this coastal paradise.

For those interested in surfing or kitesurfing, Essaouira boasts world-class surf schools that can cater to both beginners and experienced surfers. Feel the thrill of riding the waves of the Atlantic Ocean or even try standing on a surfboard for the first time. If surfing isn’t your cup of tea, you can simply relax on the sandy beach and marvel at the surfers in action.

If you consider yourself a food enthusiast, a visit to the fishing port is a must. Witness the bustling activity when the fishing boats return and observe the freshest catch being sold right on the beach. You can even purchase your own fish and take it to one of the small kitchens located in the alleys of downtown. They will grill it for you using trendy barbecues made from repurposed tin cans. Alternatively, you can choose from the green-striped stalls near the port, where they will expertly cook and serve your fish to perfection.

Additionally, as you wander around Essaouira, you may notice various locations within the ramparts that were used as settings for scenes in the popular TV series Game of Thrones, specifically in the third season.

Take this day to indulge in the activities that resonate with your interests and preferences, be it beach relaxation, water sports, culinary delights, or exploring the cinematic charm of the town.

Day 7Journey from Essaouira to Marrakech

If you didn’t have the chance to visit an argan cooperative on your way to Essaouira, you can make up for it today during our leisurely ride back to Marrakech. As we travel, you’ll have the opportunity to stop at an argan cooperative and learn more about the production of this valuable oil, which is famous for its beauty and health benefits.

Once we arrive in Marrakech, you’ll have the entire afternoon and evening at your disposal to indulge in some shopping. Explore the bustling markets and souks, where you can find a wide array of traditional handicrafts, clothing, spices, and much more. If you’re feeling adventurous, you may even be tempted to try the delectable food stalls at Jemaa el-Fna square, which offer a variety of mouthwatering Moroccan cuisine.

After a day of exploration, you can relax and unwind at one of the terraces overlooking the vibrant city. Enjoy a drink while taking in the enchanting view of lights shimmering through the kitchen smoke, creating a mesmerizing ambiance.

Make the most of your time in Marrakech, immersing yourself in its unique atmosphere, culinary delights, and the vibrant energy that permeates the city’s streets and squares.
